Apple OS X Mountain Lion

In a press release today, Apple announced the next major update of the Mac OS X codenamed “Mountain Lion”. Apple released Developer Preview of Mac OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion with over 100 new features. Some of which are similar to those in iOS 5 launched back on October last year.

Here is the overview of some of the new features:

Twitter integration: Tweet right from your apps. OS X Mountain Lion keeps you on top of all things Twitter. Sign in once and you’re all set to start tweeting.

Gatekeeper: A more secure Mac. Under your control. Gatekeeper in OS X Mountain Lion makes the Mac safer than ever. It helps prevent you from unknowingly downloading and installing malicious software. And it gives you control over which applications to download and run on your Mac.

Touch gesture to close Windows 8 metro apps

If you had installed the Windows 8 developer preview which was released back in September 2011 at the BUILD conference, you might have noticed that the new Metro style apps in Windows 8 are closed by the Task Manager.

Now a new video posted by WinUnleaked.tk site shows that there is a touch gesture support to close metro style apps.

Nokia World 2011


The Windows Phone era for Nokia has begun. Today Nokia CEO Stephen Elop announced at the Nokia World 2011 conference that the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 will be the primary OS for Nokia phones and also announced the first Windows Phone 7 enabled mobile phone - Nokia Lumia 800.

Nokia also announced four new S40 handsets Nokia Asha 200, Asha 201, Asha 300, Asha 303

iOS 5 now available

Apple released the iOS 5 and iCloud yesterday. iOS 5 and iCloud were announced by Steve Jobs at the WWDC conference in June 2011.

iOS 5 brings more than 200 new features like Notification Center, iMessage, Newsstand, Reminders, Twitter Integration, Over the air updates and many more.

iCloud which is the new cloud service, is the successor to MobileMe. iCloud is a free service with 5GB storage. With iCloud users will be able to sync their mails, contacts, calendar etc. on configured iOS devices and MacBooks as well. Also users can use Find My iPhone utility to locate their iOS device.

To set up iCloud, users need iOS 5 or Mac OS X Lion with 10.7.2 update.

Developers can now download XCode 4.2 with iOS 5 SDK from here

XCode 4.2 Requiremets: Mac OS X Lion 10.7 or later.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard with iOS membership can download XCode 4.2 with iOS 5 SDK from iOS Dev Center

Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former CEO of Apple Inc. passed away on Wednesday after long battle with pancreatic cancer. Today the world has lost a visionary and creative genius who inspired and changed lives of billions across the world.

Apple reveals the iPhone 4S


Today Apple announced some of the important product updates at its Let's Talk iPhone conference. Some of the new product upgrades include iPod nano and iPod touch.

Apple also announced that iOS 5 will be launched on October 12th.



The most anticipated update was iPhone. Apple announced the next version of iPhone - iPhone 4S

Some of the features of iPhone 4S are:

1. Apple A5 chip


2. Download speed up to 14.4Mbps which twice as fast as iPhone 4's 7.2Mbps



3. 8 Megapixel camera with 1080p HD video recording.




4. New voice recognition feature: Siri


5. available in both GSM and CDMA.
6. Maximum storage up to 64GB.

Good news for iPhone 3GS users (including me) is that Apple will still provide support for iPhone 3GS 8GB along with iOS 5.
iPhone 4 is priced as follows (with Two Year Contract):

16GB        $199
32GB        $299
64GB        $399




iPhone 4S will be shipped from October 14th with pre-orders starting from October 7th.


On October 28th, it'll be shipped in 22 more countries and 70 countries by the end of the year.
